Indian Court yet to be told of Prabakaran's death

CHENNAI: More than six months after the Sri Lankan government announced that the LTTE chief V Prabakaran had been killed, the information is yet to be officially conveyed to the TADA court hearing a part of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

While Rajiv was assassinated in May 1991, a special court for TADA cases at Poonamallee near here convicted a total of 26 persons and sentenced them to death.

During the trial, the court, however, had to split the case in respect of three most important conspirators -- V Prabhakaran, Pottu Amman and Akhila.

The case of 26 convicted persons attained finality, with the Supreme Court confirming death for only four -- Nalini, Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan -- while awarding life term for three others -- Robert Payas, Jayakumar and Ravichandran. That Nalini's death penalty was commuted into life term by the Tamil Nadu governor in 2000 is a different story.

The split case involving Prabhakaran and two others is still pending before the TADA court and it comes up for hearing periodically, only to suffer a long adjournment.

Meanwhile, in 1999, the Jain Commission of Inquiry, which probed the wider conspiracy behind the assassination, recommended the constitution of a Multi Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) to go into other aspects of the conspiracy. It was also mandated to file progress reports.

Accordingly, more than 40 progress reports have been filed so far by the MDMA. The matter, which came up for further hearing on Friday, assumed significance because it was the first time it was taken up after the death of Prabhakaran.

When the special judge (incharge) Ananthakrishnan took up the matter on Friday, central officials filed a new progress report in a sealed cover, the contents of which were not known. As the proceedings too were held in camera, the media did not have access to that as well. The matter has now been adjourned to the third week of February 2010. (Times of India)

Since there is NO DEATH CERTIFICATE ISSUED on the death of Pirabaharan, ARE WE TO BELIEVE PIRABAKARAN IS STILL ALIVE? Some LTTE'ers still believe he is ALIVE, may be possible !!!!!

India is not convinced with any statement made by Lanka because of the proven manipulation and duplicity of our rulers.

In fact many die hard pro LTTE supporters were expecting his 'Heroes Day' speech from where ever he is 'hiding' - even from the hell or heaven - but not to be!

Guys , Two things we should look at here, Prabakaran is stupid enough to stay in that area after all when the heavy fighting. If he had styed and died means he was heavily relying on his guns not other things as usual. If so , Tamil peoeple should reject him since he leade the war in his hands , killed all against him, gave a bad image to the world about our fighting, Killed Rajiv,Amirthaligam, Premedasa, Neelan and Inncoent Singhalse and Tamils who was aginst him. Do we want a ealam like that no way.Hope Sarath will lead the countrty and both communoties should learn to live equval partners ,thorugh the politcs and Media should take the repsonsibilty to turn this oppporunity .AJ -Syndey

Is it such a difficult thing to issue a death certificate. Any corrupt Grama Sevaka can do it for a few rupees!

Dear sir please checked from sonia. and her congress hero.

are you all know that today is a decision day for the many... coz today is 27/11 .. over the years VP used to address tamils and tamil eelam..so, most probably by monday GoSL will issue the certificate, if VP not address the nation.. Game over!

It is not about the question whether VP is still or alive. It is all about how the government treats the minorities, and the solution given to them to live peacefully without any oppression. If it is so, even if VP revives back with full force, the Tamils would never support him. If the government fails to change its current policies, there will be another revolution with or without the intervention of VP. Then there will be worthless for the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our mother land.

PRABAKARAN IS NOT DEAD. HE IS ALIVE AND WELL LIVING OVERSEAS. ONE CAN'T ISSUE DEATH CERTIFICATE WHEN ONE IS STILL ALIVE. INDIA VERY WELL KNOWS ABOUT PRABA'S EXISTENCE.INDIA IS PLAY ACTING.

Sri Lankan government has officially informed the Indian government with a death certificate to conform Tiger chief's death. It is the Indian government has to advise the TADA court. However, the Indian newspaper has not disclosed what was in the sealed envelope delivered to the court - IT SHOULD BE THE DEATH CERTIFICATE. Anybody expecting him to be alive is nothing but stupidity!

Why the govnt cant issue a death certificate to confirm that prabakaran is dead.So many people claiming credit for defeating LTTE, but still no know actually prabakaran 's death.India still required a death certificate write of the case against Rajiv Gandi death.Who is responsible for the certificate? India or Sri Lanka? world is watching what is happening now.Dont try to fool the public sort this issue as early as possible.
